I’ve been quiet here because things are noisy at home.

Two boys. ‘Tween and toddler. No school. Cold weather. I was overwhelmed at the thought of it before it began so I enlisted some help. A few hours of babysitting. An extra set of hands. A luxury to be sure. But one we allowed ourselves this week. I believe it’s good for my kids. To be able to say goodbye to me for an hour. To learn that I’ll come back. To feel secure without me for a short time. (Or at least that’s what I tell myself.) And that it’s good for me, goes without saying.

And it’s not like we haven’t made the most of our time together—

A day spent in New York City. (It never stops being strange to be a visitor in my hometown.)

An unexpected snowfall.

Old friends are new again.

Breakfast in bed at the hands of my eldest.

Hours spent camping out in the living room.

Just your average commonplace February week.

Lovely, mama. *grin* We spent some time in NYC this past weekend, too – dim sum in Chinatown! Mmmm. And your snow looks like my yard here. There’s nothing quite like a New England tree covered in snow…

love it! This is how we have been the last few weeks today too. I went on an uneccessary outing to Target today and it was so liberating! And I ran into a bunch of people too – probably the first time many of them have been out too. Hope the cabin-fever wears off and the babysitters are plentiful!

The thing about ready other peoples lives from other parts of the world is being reminded that not everyone had to take off their sweater today because of the heat. We expect rain tomorrow. I live in a part of the world that freaks out with heavy rain. Because it seems so shocking to have weather at all. I think the rest of the states must just laugh at us. I think it was a previous post you had about the hardness of winter or maybe the longness of it. It made me look and notice the nature we have here. We have bare trees and the greenest lawns because of the abundance of rare rain. I posted a picture because of you (I think it was you, I get mixed up sometimes with the blogs I read) It was a picture of the 10 stick trees I planted bare root a few months ago. They are beginning to bud. It’s the promise of spring. It’s just around the corner. I know that I will get it here first but you will get it soon too.
I think your moments away from your boys are nice. For all of you. To the coffee shop right?

I love the photo from your camping site. Those colours are just – wow! Of course it’s good for your kids to feel the strength of a happy and satisfied mum. Well doné, all of you!

Oh February break. It can be very crazy with everyone home cooped up inside. I’m glad you got a little break and headed out! That story of Jake and his friend is so sweet!

We had the offer of help this morning, but Hubby turned it down! I was sad, but understood because our girls have colds and he didn’t want to pass it on. I hope you got a good break for yourself.

I’ve always believed in a generous babysitter budget.
And a getaway.
I love the feeling of, after having been away for a few hours or a few days, I look forward to holding my little people again.
