Finding Inspiration

by Amy on February 5, 2010

a child’s creativity

he played with that paintbrush and cup of flour for long enough for me to knead the whole batch.
and then some.

sunshine

the way it sneaks around the corners in my home

the way it warms the winter sky

bright colors

they make even a messy house feel cheerful

naked babies

just because

my kitchen

and trying new recipes.

What’s inspiring you today?

I’m with you on the sunshine. It’s been so sunny here in Maine lately. Warms my wooden floors…. and my feet…. and my heart. My little guy drags an afghan to the sun spots on the the floor and basks in it like a cat. SO delicious!

I haven’t made homemade cinnamon rolls in so long. Might do it this weekend. Nom!

I have to say my grandson’s laughter has got me going today. He has such a sweet giggle I cannot help but smile and feel good.
Wish I had sunshine today, it’s cloudy and getting ready to snow, but I love that as well, love watching it fall.

Watching my kids make a giant mess in all our arts and crafts supplies – and hoping I don’t trip over them.

And the generosity of people. A project I’m involved in raised over $20,000 for emergency efforts in Haiti.

(And your sunshine photos.)

i had to go to 3 grocery stores to find a bag of flour today! the shelves are totally empty here with the predicted snowfall. but i was determined to make those cinnamon rolls after seeing yours. about to start! (i’ll call you next week, after this snow mess is over. xo.)

Today I got inspired by knowing it’s Friday. That means it’s the weekend, and that means sleeping a bit longer, watch a film on children’s cinema, linger around the house and take it easy. Fridays are just great and inspiring in itself.

Today inspiration was kiddos playing on the playground, an impromptu stop at the yarn shop to see they were having a sale, and a quiet moment at home. Perfect.

I’m a hospice nurse. Courageous people who face illness and the people who care for them at home, they inspire me. It’s only natural that I would make quilts for people who are ill. Today it was feeling satisfied after a day at work. Coming home to the smell of soup cooking all day and the promise of a Friday evening with my man.
OH, and the rainy night insisting we stay in.

oh, a good book
realising little milestones
knowing that rome was not built in a day
laughter and company of non- stop talking kids
and seeing posts like this.

p.s. both those wall colours in your home are identical to mine!

You.

and sunshine, sunshine, sunshine! It’s been a long winter for us all, hasn’t it?

cindy February 10, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Oh, and your quilts. I have finally pulled my quilting fabrics up from the basement. But my husband keeps touching them. I think HE needs a trip to the store.
Maybe I will actually quilt again. Some day.

Ann February 10, 2010 at 8:28 pm

Your quilts inspire me…beautiful blog. Also the prospect of going to Providence for a flower show in a week! (I live in Maine and alas, I’m tired of winter today…)

But–I know in my heart we’re blessed to be here!

I’m moving furniture around today, to see things from a new perspective!
