These quilts were made for my mother when she was a child.

Tilly was a young woman who looked after my mother and cleaned my grandmother’s house (kind of hard to imagine, yes?) and her mother hand pieced and quilted these.
I believe they were made in Pennsylvania in the 1950′s.

I had them on my bed as a child. They are somewhat faded and showing years of love and wear so they are displayed on a blanket stand in the guest room at my parents’ house and don’t get any use now.
It just seemed like they needed sharing.

so, where do you think your quilts might end up in 75 years? not ready for deep thought yet?
they are beautiful, as are yours!!
They are lovely. I was digging through my storage space (life in boxes, as I like to call it) searching for some fabric when I found my box of quilts. There are a few my grandma made that are lovely. I used to keep them on my bed but now I need another way to show them off.
My goodness! Those are beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Oh these quilts are absolutely stunning. You lucky girl to have an heirloom like these quilts. It makes me want to make a quilt with stars! Thank you for sharing this story.
They certainly needed a showing…stunning…gorgeous colours!
Love those quilts! How lucky to have those beauties!!
They’re so beautiful and well kept, even if a little faded. My grandmother had this quilt I loved but unfortunately we loved it a little too roughly and it was put to sleep years ago hehe
They are wonderful! I really get a kick out of the first picture ..it’s like they’re standing in the middle of the field all on their own. As if their history brings them to life!
These quilts are great! I love the colors.
These are beautiful! The hand quilting is amazing on them.
