Saturday I spotted these.

And decided it was time to make these.

Quinn’s dolls were cold. So I made them this.

(That’s Marine-Bear. My cousin Zach gave him to Jake when he entered the Marines seven years ago. Quinn thinks it’s really funny that he has shoes on.)
I’ve never made quilted pillows or a doll quilt before. I found both to be very fulfilling to my instant-gratification-needy-side and a good way to get to know my new machine. They are also bringing a much-needed dose of color into my home.
The first flowering buds of spring and more hours of daylight are helping, but I’m hanging on by a thread waiting for complete liberation.
How are you getting through the last days of winter?

I am eating oatmeal and Colcannon, and looking forward to Farmer’s Market salads and fresh berries!
I just cleaned out my garden of all the dead plants and debris ready for some spring gardening. We had nice warm weather over the weekend.
The quilt is cute and so are the pillows. That seems like a lot of work you did!
I am eating more salad, painting things bright springy colors and willing the weather to stay warm.
Love the blanket! and pillows! I have a instant gratification needy side too.
It was a balmy 75 or so here today! So we (the kids) played in the hose! And we had the worst snowstorm last week!
Love, love, love the quilt and pillows.
I think I’m going to eat, sleep and knit my way through the rest of winter.

Wonderful quilting! Makes me want to give it a whirl every time!
I love them all! I want to make some placemats like your little doll quilt! Thanks for the inspiration! Today I watched the snow swirl down while a flock of robins ate worms from the yard. It was a little "oxy-moron" to me.
so jealous of your spring…love the quilting you are doing!
I love the pillows and the bear quilt. So cute!
Winter is still holding strong here. We just got a fresh new six inches of snow overnight. As long as I don’t have to drive in ice, and can see the sun now and again, I’m alright with it. I grew up with long cold winters so I suppose I’m used to it. I do look forward to the flowers though. That is exciting!
Your pillows and doll quilt are gorgeous! I’ve been meaning to make both and have yet to do it. Maybe today’s the day.
Love your pillows and doll quilt
We have more snow . . . I’m jealous of the spring bulbs there, but I’ll be patient.
Oh, man, just look at those flowers peeking out of the ground! Trying not to be jealous…patience is my friend…
I just ordered a bunch of flowers and plants from the yearly plant sale at my son’s school, an annual fundraiser that totally helps me slog through the last bit of winter here. In just 6 weeks’ time they’ll be ready for pickup and planting. Yay!
And I just love those pillows you whipped up this weekend!
I feel kinda sad that it is over, and feeling like I missed out. Here on the California coast we only get frost. We are close enough to travel to it, but because we are not "forced" to deal with the snow we never learned how to drive in it and stay safe… I know I shouldn’t complain… I am thankful for you guys, that it is coming to and end though…
I’m watching my crocuses pop a little higher every day and the grass turn greener. I’ve been splashing in puddles (has it been raining for 6 days straight near you?) and packing away my sweaters. I should make some of those quilted pillows…I like all that color, it’s what I need now!
I’m painting chairs red, that’s how I survive. We’re moving to the house in a little less than three weeks and I’m trying to find the perfect red for our staircase and kitchen chairs. The kids love it, every morning there’s a new chair in a new shade of red in the kitchen. Me, I’m just holding on for dear life. We have an enormous amount of snow right now and I just can’t stand it anymore.
Love your work, as always. Colour seems to be the trick.
Love the pillows! I think lots of colors is what carries you through the last weeks-months of winter. Must be careful, though. Nothing is easier killed by spring day light than a pale winter face surrounded by bright colore…
By enjoying the warming of the days! I am so happy that winter is almost over!
Such pretty little flowers…and that adorable little quilt to keep the dollies warm! So sweet.
